MY STORY
I am a Chartered Quantity Surveyor whose career is centred on the integration of cost management, contract administration, and legal frameworks within the construction industry. My professional foundations were established through a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Guyana, where I developed an appreciation for how projects are conceived, designed, and delivered. Over time, I observed that many project challenges arise not from technical failure, but from uncertainty in valuation, ambiguity in contractual obligations, and the absence of structured mechanisms for resolving disagreements. This insight guided my transition toward the commercial and legal dimensions of the built environment.

To deepen this specialization, I completed a Master of Laws (LLM) in Construction Law with a focus on Arbitration and Adjudication from Robert Gordon University, leading to membership with the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. Combined with my chartered status with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), I am positioned to support clients with a balanced perspective that connects financial evaluation, contract interpretation, and dispute avoidance principles. My work spans cost estimation, bills of quantities, procurement analysis, tender assessments, value determination, and construction advisory services across infrastructure, civil works, building projects, and rehabilitation initiatives.

I am currently engaged in dedicated mentorship in the field of Construction Adjudication, which is strengthening my application of adjudicative procedure, evidence handling, decision-writing structure, jurisdictional awareness, and practical dispute engagement. This mentorship reinforces my commitment to fair process, professional ethics, and the development of adjudication as an effective dispute resolution pathway within the construction sector.

My goal is to contribute to raising professional standards in Guyana by promoting RICS-aligned cost governance, advancing construction law awareness, and supporting the wider adoption of adjudication and other alternative dispute resolution mechanisms as efficient, fair, and technically informed methods for resolving construction-related disputes. I believe that a more structured and educated approach to cost management and dispute resolution strengthens project delivery, reduces conflict, and enhances industry maturity.

Guided by the conviction that “without standards, there can be no improvement,” I remain dedicated to advancing Quantity Surveying and Construction Law with integrity, diligence, and a commitment to elevating the profession.
